Tripartitum
An early purchase for the town, preserved in the family's library collection.
Jazyk obsahu
Gašpar Ostrolúcky purchased this copy of Štefan Verböczi's Tripartitum in the 16th century at the expense of the town of Zvolen. The book retains a late-Renaissance binding covered in light-brown lambskin. Its decoration is blind-tooled: a pattern impressed without coloured printing.
The handmade paper suffered from excessive moisture. The book had both mechanical and chemical damage, so measurements and tests preceded conservation. Their results guided the choice of methods suitable for the surviving material. Protecting the pages therefore required a separate assessment from that of the leather cover.
The conservation work was documented in a report delivered to the museum. The volume belongs to the Ostrolúcky family's library heritage and links its activities with the town's history. Several forms of evidence survive in one object: the record of purchase, the old binding, the paper and traces of its subsequent preservation.
