Pottery from three generations of the Necel family
Work by Franciszek, Leon and Ryszard, family ornaments and the old potter’s wheel.
Jazyk obsahu
The exhibition includes pottery dating from 1897–1996, associated with Franciszek, Leon and Ryszard Necel. The vessels document the family craft: recurring decorative motifs and the different shapes given to clay by successive masters. Local children and their parents helped assemble the collection.
Documents and awards accompany the pottery. Seven patterns painted on glass by Krystyna Malek help visitors recognise the ornaments, while Leon’s wheel from 1936 represents the hand-shaping of vessels. The historical exhibition is separate from the working pottery, where demonstrations and additional practical sessions take place.
Pro děti
The exhibition has vessels from three generations: Franciszek, Leon and Ryszard. Each worked with clay, but their vessel shapes could differ. Family patterns passed from older potters to younger ones. Children and their parents helped collect the exhibition objects.
The patterns are also shown on glass, so you can compare them with the decoration on the vessels. Nearby are Leon’s old potter’s wheel, called a toczek, documents and awards. This is the historical display. New things are made in the working pottery, where participants try the craft under supervision.
