T-55 tank
A four-man tank with a 100 mm gun also worked in front of the camera.

The T-55 developed the earlier T-54 design in the late 1950s. It retained a four-man crew and the basic arrangement of their stations. The family’s main armament was a 100 mm gun, stabilised in two planes. Stabilisation reduced the effect of the vehicle’s movement on the position of the gun.
The Mrągowo collection records a T-55 built in 1983. A museum T-55 also appeared in Gdańsk during filming of the television series “Stulecie Winnych”, alongside a Star 660 from the collection. The city’s account, published in May 2021, describes filming that took place the previous autumn. This screen appearance forms part of the museum vehicle’s history: the production used preserved machinery to recreate the past. The museum also offers organised T-55 rides, so the tank’s role as an exhibit extends beyond a stationary display of its outline.

A T-55 had a crew of four. They had different jobs, even though they travelled inside the same armoured vehicle. The design was developed by improving the older T-54. Its gun had a calibre of 100 mm, meaning the diameter inside the barrel. A stabilising mechanism helped control the gun’s position as the vehicle moved.
The collection in Mrągowo includes a T-55 recorded as dating from 1983. A museum tank also worked on the television series “Stulecie Winnych”. In autumn 2020, it was taken to Gdańsk and appeared alongside a Star 660 truck. Filmmakers used real old vehicles to recreate scenes from the past. The museum also organises T-55 rides. These are a separate activity in which the heavy machine is presented in motion.
