O exponátu

The stables and coach house were built at the turn of the 20th century to a design by French architect Amand Bauqué. The museum holds two separate carriage collections: a historic one from the Potocki family, numbering 55 vehicles, and a museum collection assembled since the postwar period, now numbering nearly 80. The horse stalls in the stables, fitted out by the Viennese firm R.Ph.Waagner, have kept their turn-of-the-century appearance almost unchanged.

The coach house holds vehicles from renowned Viennese, London and Parisian makers, including Marius, Lohner, Labourdette and Rothschild, kept separately as ceremonial and working vehicles, standing in the same spots as under the family's ownership. The walls of the Harness Hall are decorated with hunting trophies, including exotic ones brought back in 1924 from an African safari by the last owner, Alfred Potocki.

Although more than a century old, the Potocki family's historic carriages have never been restored, only given conservation care, so they survive in original condition alongside historic harnesses made in Parisian and Viennese workshops. The stable and coach-house complex forms a separate architectural unit, linked to the main residence by a shared park laid out around it.
