O exponátu

The Wine Museum was created in 2006 as a permanent gallery of the museum. In September 2008 it was moved to specially adapted cellars. It tells the story of a city around which vines were grown as early as the 13th century.

The exhibits come from the pre-war Heimatmuseum and the museum's collections, and some are gifts from the Wine Museum in Oppenheim. The display includes barrel ends bearing the marks of Grempler & Co. and of the Lubusz Wine Works. The collection includes ten heads of Bacchus carved by Wiesław Arminajtis.

The second part recreates a wine production line: a crusher, presses, filters, pumps and corking and labelling devices. Next to them are tools for growing vines: spades, hoes, pruning shears, sprayers and baskets for carrying grapes. Photographs by Bronisław Bugiel recall the Zielona Góra grape harvest festivals of the 1960s and 1970s. Educational boards show vine varieties, the layout of vineyards in Zielona Góra at the end of the 19th century and the place of wine in European culture.
