Main route: ten ways of life
From giraffe to sloth: compare how animals find food, move and rest.
Jazyk obsahu
- StartRothschild’s giraffe
The starting point is Rothschild’s giraffe, gathering acacia leaves with its long tongue. Next, the Somali wild ass shows how large ears and modest food requirements help an animal live in dry conditions. At the greater flamingo, the story moves from diet to appearance: pigments in food affect the colour of a growing bird.
Water connects the next three encounters. The pygmy hippo inhabits humid forests and swamps but does not eat aquatic plants. The capybara swims with webbing between its toes, while the Chinese alligator uses wetlands and spends winter in burrows beside them. Each animal makes different use of a similar part of its surroundings.
The Amur tiger introduces mountain forests, hunting in the morning and evening, and surprising ability in water. The final stops turn to life in the treetops. The binturong climbs with a grasping tail, the gibbon swings from its arms, and the two-toed sloth ends the route with a story of saving energy. Ten stops compare different solutions to everyday tasks. Follow the zoo’s signs between animals; the sequence follows themes rather than a race to the next enclosure.

First you will meet a giraffe, whose tongue helps it gather leaves. Next come a Somali wild ass with large ears and a flamingo that starts life as a grey chick. These three animals show how food and surroundings are connected with the body.
Then comes water: a pygmy hippo, a capybara and a Chinese alligator. One closes its ears and nostrils when diving, another has webbed toes, and the third winters in a burrow beside water. Each uses the wet world differently.
After them comes a tiger that swims well, followed by three tree dwellers. A binturong grips branches with its tail, a gibbon swings from its arms, and a sloth can sleep upside down. Look for one such feature at each animal. Walk with an adult, following the zoo’s signs quietly and without feeding its residents.
