Inhaltssprache
The hull of this T-34-85 was built in Gorky in 1944, while its turret was made in Nizhny Tagil that same year. In February 1945 the vehicle reached Rembertów in a shipment for the 16th Dnovskaya Tank Brigade, which had been incorporated into the Polish Army. Its hull serial number, 4120630, distinguishes it from other vehicles of the same type.
The T-34-85’s larger turret accommodated three crew members; the whole tank had a crew of five. This design change accompanied the introduction of an 85 mm gun. However, the gun surviving in the Drzonów vehicle dates from 1946, meaning that it replaced an earlier weapon after the war.
The tank came to Drzonów from Lubin in 1996. It had previously belonged to the Museum of Polish Military Traditions at Lubin’s mining school. The engine is no longer inside the hull, but the gearbox, tanks and control levers are among the components that survive. The exhibit records replacements and losses which the vehicle’s outward silhouette does not reveal.

This T-34-85 was built during the Second World War. Its hull came from Gorky and its turret from Nizhny Tagil. Both were made in 1944. The following year the tank reached Rembertów for a brigade incorporated into the Polish Army.
Five soldiers worked in the vehicle, three of them in the turret. The gun fitted today dates from 1946, so it replaced an earlier one after the war had ended. In 1996 the tank was moved from a museum in Lubin to Drzonów. Its engine is missing, but other parts remain, including the gearbox and control levers. Each is a fragment of this particular machine’s history.
