Gingerbread Laboratory
A space for themed culinary and craft workshops exploring gingerbread, historical recipes and moulds.
Inhaltssprache
The Gingerbread Laboratory was added as a separate workshop space when the museum expanded in 2018. It hosts culinary activities and explores gingerbread-making crafts. It is not the same room as the regular baking workshop on the ground floor: the Laboratory has its own programme, bringing together work with dough, the history of recipes and artistic activities.
The 2018 project programme included cooking, woodcarving and photography workshops. The culinary strand drew on historical recipes and uses of gingerbread, rather than simply decorating a finished biscuit. Woodcarving concerned making the moulds that give gingerbread its shape. Alongside demonstrations and discussions, the programme provided for tastings and activities involving touch and smell. It was intended for different generations, including families working together at a table.
Later programmes returned to these subjects. For the November 2025 festival, the Laboratory announced a Lower Silesian gingerbread workshop led by Marcin Goetz and mould-carving sessions with Beata Pranke-Zdziebło. These are examples of themed encounters with practitioners, not a fixed daily programme. Participation in a particular activity requires choosing it from the museum's schedule.
