Mirror Hall
A two-storey hall with two great Parisian mirrors and five crystal chandeliers, the castle's former dining room.
Inhaltssprache
The Mirror Hall rises through two storeys. It takes its name from two Paris-made mirrors, each measuring 14 square metres, placed opposite one another on the east and west walls. Three windows stand 7.5 metres high. The ceiling depicts a blue sky with floral motifs above an interior finished in black lacquer and gilding; the walls also carry allegories of the four seasons and signs of the zodiac.
Five crystal chandeliers hang from the ceiling. The largest contains 1,097 crystal elements weighing a total of 197 kilograms. Alongside the Paris mirrors, it is one of the hall's most elaborate glass furnishings. Following the castle's rebuilding in 1870-1876, the room served as the Hochberg family's formal dining hall.
