Gold and everyday working life

The treasury and workplace signs: the scale of production alongside everyday rules.

About the exhibition

The treasury represents centuries of gold production through imitation bars. Gathered in one place, they depict the output of generations of miners and metallurgical workers.

The Museum of Warnings, Notices and Appeals shifts attention to everyday working arrangements. Safety signs, access restrictions and calls for economy came from various workplaces, not just the mine. Comparing the two collections leads from the quantity of metal produced to the rules governing people at work.
