About the exhibition

The Ostrolúcky family was among the oldest and most influential families of the Zvolen region. The exhibition explores its role in 19th-century public life and its connections with Ľudovít Štúr, a figure in the Slovak national movement.

Objects from the family's estate give this history a personal dimension. The spinet relates to Adela's music-making, the medallion to her mother's remembrance, while the fan and Tripartitum volume represent other kinds of surviving possessions. The exhibition was prepared for the bicentenary of Štúr's birth.
