About the exhibition

The historic palace park houses the outdoor military equipment collection. Across approximately four hectares, it brings together tanks, armoured carriers, trucks, engineering equipment, artillery, missile systems, aeroplanes and helicopters. Different chassis and silhouettes reflect the tasks performed by each design.

SU-152 self-propelled guns and T-34 tanks represent the Second World War, while the Pion, PT-76 and T-72 illustrate later military equipment. Alongside technical differences are individual histories: repairs, transfers between units, periods spent as monuments and eventual acquisition by the museum. The Iskra 200BR adds the story of an aircraft prototype whose variant never entered series production.

For children

Machines with very different jobs stand in the park. There are tanks, cars, guns, aeroplanes and helicopters. Some vehicles travelled on wheels, others on tracks, and the PT-76 could also swim.

Not every tracked machine is a tank. The Pion is a gun on its own chassis. The single-seat Iskra 200BR, meanwhile, is an experimental aircraft built in just one example. The park’s historic machines also have different life stories: some were used for training, while others stood as monuments after the war before being moved to the museum.
