Fiat 126p Happy End
A yellow example from the farewell edition of one thousand cars marking the end of production.
Content language
This yellow Fiat 126p belongs to the Happy End farewell edition. The Oława example retains the characteristic colour of one of the two groups prepared as production ended. The edition’s name refers to the end of the model’s factory history, not to a new body design. Happy End comprised 1,000 cars: 500 yellow and 500 red. The limited number and two colours distinguished them from ordinary examples. The museum’s car belongs to the yellow half of that edition.
Polish production of the Fiat 126p ended on 22 September 2000 in Bielsko-Biała. For a model built for over a quarter of a century, this was a definite boundary. Its subsequent history concerns use, repairs and collecting, rather than new model years leaving a Polish factory.
The first Polish examples were assembled in 1973. Production later also took place in Tychy, with over 3.3 million cars made across the two plants. Happy End closed this mass-production story with a short, identifiable edition. The final series received its own name and a fixed quantity rather than a redesigned silhouette.
