Content language
This Fiat 126p spent years in the living room of Mr Mirek’s flat in Gliwice. It occupied a domestic space rather than a garage or a roadside parking spot. Its history centres on a particular owner and an unusual way of keeping a car. Tomasz Jurczak, the founder of the WENA collection, bought the vehicle. Its personal history accompanied it into the museum, rather than disappearing behind a model name and technical specifications.
The museum recreated the interior of the flat for this exhibit. The setting refers to a real home in Gliwice; it is a reconstruction of the car’s surroundings, not an unrelated decorative backdrop.
Polish production of the 126p began in 1973, initially in Bielsko-Biała and later also in Tychy. The basic design had a two-door body and four seats. It was built to carry people, but this particular example remained indoors for years without going anywhere.
