About

The golden Fiat 126p stands out for its decorated body. Instead of the usual appearance of a small passenger car, it has an individual character. Its colour forms a background for musical motifs referring to a particular artist, not the car manufacturer. A portrait of Bob Marley is painted on its side. This is the most direct connection between the vehicle and reggae. As part of the body decoration, the image also places the car within the culture of music fandom.

The Jamaican flag is another feature of the bodywork. Portrait and flag share a theme, pointing to the same musical tradition. Their arrangement on the small body matters as much as the gold colour itself.

The car entered the Oława collection when a reggae enthusiast in Italy was selling his collection. Its route to the museum therefore passed through music collecting. That background distinguishes it from small Fiats collected chiefly for their factory version, mechanical condition or year of manufacture.
