World of Invertebrates
A live invertebrate exhibition in the Orangery, including stick insects and millipedes, alongside a temporary tropical butterfly exhibition.
Idioma del contenido
The animals live in specially prepared displays where visitors can closely observe stick insects, locusts, flower chafers, millipedes and crickets.
These groups of animals have different survival strategies. Stick insects blend into their surroundings by imitating leaves or twigs, and flower chafers catch the eye with the metallic sheen of their shells. Millipedes impress with their number of legs and chemical defence mechanisms. The exhibition is educational: it shows the habits of these animals, their adaptations to the environment and their role in ecosystems.
Butterflies are invertebrates too, and the Butterfly Kingdom devoted to them is a temporary exhibition. While the exhibition is running, in a special zone that visitors can enter, dozens of tropical butterfly species from different parts of the world fly freely among lush vegetation. Their life cycle and colourful wings are visible from just a few steps away. Current dates for the butterfly exhibition are announced by Ogrody Przelewice.
