Sobre la pieza

The Radieta radio receiver ran on batteries and required an external loudspeaker. Its four valves formed a TRF circuit, amplifying the received signal at its original frequency before converting it into an audio signal. It is the oldest receiver in the museum's collection, dating from approximately 1926-1928.

The wooden cabinet has a partly hinged lid and an ebonite front panel. The base carrying the components slides out together with the front panel, giving access to the mechanism. A dual concentric control on one capacitor provides separate coarse and fine tuning. Finding a station therefore meant operating several controls, rather than selecting a programme name from a list.

Inside, two variable capacitors work with basket-wound coils. These circuits select the radio frequency. A metal partition separates the radio-frequency section from the audio-frequency circuits and their transformers, reducing unwanted coupling. Philips A410 and B406 valves survive in the receiver.

Radieta forms part of the radio display marking a century of regular broadcasting in Slovakia. This receiver is included in the exhibition running until 23 October 2026.
