Městské muzeum Nové Město nad Metují

Spartak watch prototypes, a Baroque pharmacy and carved portraits of local people come together at the museum on Na Zadomí. Its 16th-century house adjoins an old artillery bastion that formed part of the town defences. Inside are stories of local history and nature, from a prehistoric bronze brooch found nearby to the watchmaking products for which Nové Město nad Metují became known.

The Brothers Hospitallers' pharmacy furnishings returned to the town in 2006 after travelling through Kuks and Brno. The townspeople's nativity scene has been growing since 2001: Jarmila Haldová carves contemporary residents and figures from the past into a setting based on the town square. The permanent PRIM display brings early watchmaking together with models for everyday wear and specialised uses.

The nature room shifts attention from the town to its surroundings. A diorama presents rocks, mixed woodland, reedbeds and water, while the geological section contains local rocks, minerals and fossils. The story of Josef Sekyra, a local geologist and polar explorer, reaches as far as the South Pole.
