Amber: formation, extraction and inclusions

Three sections connect amber's plant origins, methods of extraction and the traces of life it preserves.

Sobre la exposición

The Amber Forest, the mine and the inclusions explore the same material from three perspectives. The forest setting presents resin flowing from trees and its natural forms. Tools and excavated material illustrate amber extraction. Insects and plant remains enclosed in the pieces provide evidence of an ancient environment.

The grouping moves from the scale of an entire forest to the detail of a tiny organism. Enlarged views of inclusions make these small traces easier to examine, while the sifting station offers a practical experience of searching for amber. Scent and sound belong to the scenery; the specimens and previously used tools are the objects on display.
