Sobre la pieza

The 2S1 Goździk is a Soviet 122 mm self-propelled howitzer: a gun mounted on a vehicle with its own engine, rather than towed by a separate vehicle. Its prototype was built in 1967, during the post-war development of artillery using tracked chassis.

Goździk howitzers were produced in three different countries: the Soviet Union, Poland and Bulgaria, so their history involves several national arms industries. In Poland, Huta Stalowa Wola manufactured them under licence from 1984 to 1994, using a design developed abroad. The weapon sits in a rotating turret. The vehicle had a 300 hp engine and weighed approximately 15.7 tonnes.

Para niños

The Goździk has its own engine and tracks to carry its gun. This makes it a self-propelled howitzer. Its calibre is 122 mm: calibre means the diameter of the barrel’s bore. The gun sits in a turret that can turn, and the whole vehicle weighs about 15.7 tonnes.

The first prototype was built in 1967. Later, Goździk howitzers were made in three countries: the Soviet Union, Poland and Bulgaria. Huta Stalowa Wola built the Polish vehicles between 1984 and 1994. Production was under licence, meaning permission to use an existing design. This vehicle connects military transport with the history of a Polish factory.
