Participants compose their own soap, which sets during the tour and goes home with them afterwards.

Sobre la pieza

Visitors make their own soap at the start of the visit, before joining the guided tour. Each participant chooses a colour, scent and additives for their creation. A workshop leader explains the process and helps participants make their soap.

Once made, the soap needs time to set. During this interval, the guide begins the story of how people kept themselves clean in the past. Participants take their finished soap home afterwards. The workshop and tour are therefore linked by the sequence of activities: exploring the exhibition fills the waiting time while the soap sets.

The workshop room evokes the courtyard of a Bydgoszcz tenement in the 1920s. Writing in the local dialect and objects used in everyday household life form part of the setting. Brooms and an outdoor toilet add to the picture of an old courtyard.
