Ethnographic Room
Tools, furniture and clothing from the Strzyżów area, showing the material side of local life.
Idioma del contenido
The ethnographic collection contains objects from the folk culture of the Strzyżów area, dating from the second half of the nineteenth century and the twentieth century. The date range spans the years before the First World War and later decades of the twentieth century, rather than a single moment in village history. The museum adds to its collections through donations from residents of Strzyżów and the surrounding district.
The exhibits include tools, furniture and everyday objects. These groups relate to different activities: working, furnishing a home and using the equipment needed in daily life. Clothing forms another part of the display of material culture.
Ethnography is one of the museum’s collecting areas, alongside history, archives, military objects, archaeology, art and palaeontology. Look at materials and traces of wear rather than treating every object as part of an undifferentiated backdrop of village life.
