Old cinema
Period seats and fittings from the former Orzeł cinema recall earlier ways of watching films.
Idioma del contenido
The old cinema joined the exhibition in 2023. It introduces a separate subject: watching films outside the living room and its television. It belongs to the museum’s collection of interiors whose furnishings shaped leisure activities. Elements from the former Orzeł cinema were used to furnish it. Parts of this arrangement therefore have a history in a real cinema, beyond the collection of domestic equipment.
Old folding seats stand before the screen. They provide the setting for screenings and are a characteristic feature of this part of the museum. The history of films is accompanied by the history of the place that supplied the furnishings. Films are played from VHS tapes, combining former cinema fittings with a medium also associated with home viewing. This is a museum arrangement rather than the reconstruction of one particular historic screening.
