Sobre la pieza

Wrocław Old Town Hall represents civic architecture in the park. The original stands in Wrocław’s Market Square and is a late Gothic secular building. It housed the City Council and municipal courts, where decisions concerning residents and the running of the city were made. The Town Hall also served a ceremonial purpose. City officials received emperors, kings and princes there. Its impressive architecture provided the setting for official occasions.

Surviving rooms in the original include the Council Chamber, Council Chancellery and Great Hall with its net vault. The ribs of this vault form an elaborate pattern. The rooms’ historic names still indicate the business once conducted in them. Today, the Old Town Hall houses the Museum of Bourgeois Art, which collects works associated with Wrocław’s craftspeople and artists. The Kowary miniature presents the exterior architecture of a monument whose interiors preserve the history of civic government and art.
