Gdyńskie Muzeum Motoryzacji
The Gdynia Motor Museum displays cars and motorcycles along a cobbled street built inside an exhibition hall. Witold Ciążkowski created the collection, having developed an interest in vehicles as a child. The museum opened in October 2007. The hall’s steel structure came from a building purchased in the port of Gdynia and was reassembled on Żwirowa Street.
The cars include a Ford Model T and Renault NN from 1926, a pre-war Fiat 500 and a post-war Bentley Mark VI. Motorcycles include the military Harley-Davidson 42 WLA. The collection brings together different approaches to motoring: a small two-seater, a popular everyday car and a prestigious saloon.
The 1920s street setting incorporates original doors, windows, signs and decorative elements from former buildings in Gdynia and Gdańsk. The mezzanine holds engine diagrams, rally photographs and old road maps. The entire collection cannot be displayed at once, and vehicles also take part in parades and events away from the museum.
Pour les enfants
In this museum, a little street fits under a roof. Vintage cars and motorcycles stand along it instead of modern vehicles. They were collected by Witold Ciążkowski, whose interest in vehicles began in childhood. His museum opened in 2007. The hall’s structure was brought from the port of Gdynia.
The collection contains machines with very different jobs. The little Fiat 500 seated two people, the Ford Model T was a popular everyday car, and the Bentley belonged to the luxury class. The military Harley-Davidson WLA carried messages and helped control vehicle traffic. Each model served a different purpose.
The doors, windows and signs decorating the street came from old buildings in Gdynia and Gdańsk. On the mezzanine, an extra level above part of the hall, there are old maps, photographs and engine drawings. The display is only part of a larger collection: all the vehicles cannot fit inside at the same time.
