À propos de l’objet

The map and display case devoted to Tiba present the post-war organisation of the textile industry. At the start of 1946, the national enterprise Tibatex was established, bringing together local factories including those of Sochor, Neumann and Deutsch. Its operations covered spinning, weaving, bleaching, dyeing, finishing and printing. It initially incorporated fourteen firms; factories from other towns were later added.

The company’s name changed, but the word Tiba remained. Textile printing was the speciality of a large group of factories that also covered successive stages of production. Its legal form changed in 1988. Privatisation began after the political changes of 1989. In 1993, the remaining factories formed the joint-stock company Tiba. Subsequent difficulties ended in a declaration of bankruptcy on 9 February 2007, after which the company’s factories and workshops were sold.

Pour les enfants

Tiba brought together many factories working with textiles. The museum devotes a map and display case to it. This story begins in 1946, when the national enterprise Tibatex was created. Factories belonging to Sochor, Neumann and Deutsch were among those combined.

Some departments spun yarn and wove fabric; others dyed or printed it. Fourteen companies were initially brought together, with more joining later. The name changed, but the word Tiba remained. After 1989, the factories underwent privatisation, changing from state to private ownership. A joint-stock company was established in 1993 and declared bankrupt in 2007.
