À propos de l’objet

The house dates from the 16th century and was built against an older artillery bastion. With its gun openings, the bastion formed part of the town's defences, leaving the museum building directly connected to the former fortifications. Before display cases and exhibitions arrived, the house served as a burgher's residence and, for a time, as a district dining facility. Its use for displaying collections is another chapter in the long history of the same house.

The building was adapted for the museum during reconstruction in 1994-1995. In January 1996, its first custodian, Jaroslav Resl, took up his post; he later became director. Exhibitions were devoted to the town's history, local crafts and regional nature, bringing objects from the surrounding area into the old house beside the defensive bastion.
