Ten encounters at Kraków Zoo
From elephants and big cats to condors, penguins and a red panda: ten encounters on a zoo walk.

The walk begins with the Asian elephants, near the main entrance. Life in a herd is the first theme, followed by the pygmy hippo, usually solitary and active at night. The paths then lead to the big-cat complex by the seasonal entrance. Here you meet the Asiatic lion, snow leopard and Amur tiger: inhabitants of wooded Gir, high mountains and taiga.
After the cats, visit the Andean condor, followed by the neighbouring lemurs. The story of Beti, transferred from Kraków to Chile as part of a reintroduction programme, connects this part of the walk with species conservation. At the lemurs, attention turns to young animals travelling in their mother's fur.
Next comes Rothschild's giraffe, which eats tree and shrub leaves. From the giraffes, the route follows the lower path to the Humboldt penguins and then the red panda. The final encounters compare bird parents incubating eggs together with an inhabitant of Asian forests that eats bamboo. Follow visitor paths and enclosure signs; after the last stop, you can head towards the main entrance.
Pour les enfants
Start with the elephants, close to the main entrance. An older female leads their herd. Next you meet the pygmy hippo, which usually lives alone and is most active at night. Do all animals enjoy company? These first two encounters already show how different their habits can be.
Then follow the paths with an adult to the big cats: the Asiatic lion, snow leopard and Amur tiger. Their wild homes lie in different parts of Asia. After the cats comes the condor and Beti's story. She hatched in Kraków and later went to Chile in a programme helping condors return to the wild. Next are the lemurs, whose babies hold on to their mother's fur.
After the lemurs you meet the giraffe, which eats leaves from trees and shrubs. Then visit the penguins, whose parents care for their eggs together. The last animal on the walk is the red panda, with bamboo on its menu. Stay on visitor paths and check the enclosure signs. Ten encounters let you compare animal homes, meals and families.
