Wartime Strzyżów: People and Infrastructure

Two perspectives on the occupation: residents’ lives presented in the museum and the military engineering of the shelter tunnel.

À propos de l’exposition

Residents’ lives and military infrastructure offer two perspectives on Strzyżów during the Second World War. The museum room presents forced labour, individual wartime experiences and everyday life under occupation.

The separate shelter tunnel belonged to the Anlage Süd complex. Its construction and purpose as a shelter for a staff train reveal another aspect of that history: command infrastructure and rail transport. Bringing the two sites together connects personal history with engineering without treating the room about the tunnel as the shelter itself.
