The route begins in the former Piarist college at Lubelska 55, in Gallery 72, which has shown Polish and international avant-garde art since 1972. A few dozen metres away, in the building at Lubelska 57, the exhibition "Chełm Is Its Name…" leads from Prince Daniel's stronghold to the 20th century, and in the same building the "Treasures of Nature" display takes visitors to steppe grasslands, the fens of Polesie and the chalk sea.
Across the street, in the former "Zwierciadło" printing house, the exhibition "Return to the Past" shows everyday life in the Chełm countryside, from Mesolithic tools to a room decorated for a holiday. The walk ends in the former Uniate Church of St Nicholas, the Baroque seminary church from the 18th century.
