À propos de l’objet

The portal was carved from sandstone in 1596 for the manor house in Przytok, built by Joachim von Stentsch, owner of the local estate and elder of the Zielona Góra district. The residence had a main building and two wings, and its construction was supervised by Antonius von Mesar, who probably also ran a stonemason's workshop. At the end of the 18th century Friedrich Albert Zimmermann counted it among the finest residences of the Zielona Góra district.

By the 1930s only one wing of the manor survived, used as a granary. The owner of a stonemasonry business, Otto Schröter, then removed the portal at his own expense and brought it to Zielona Góra. In 1937 it was set into a wall on the grounds of the district office, whose building now houses the museum, and served as a passage between the office garden and the neighbouring courtyard.

After conservation in 2008 the fragile stone was dismantled and kept under a roof for twelve years, waiting for the museum's extension. In May 2020 it was reassembled in the museum's new wing.
