À propos de l’objet

The Wall of Death is a surviving section of the former prison wall associated with accounts of executions during the Stalinist period. Prisoners held on Rakowiecka Street identified it as one of the places where death sentences against soldiers of the anti-communist underground were carried out. In 2023, it underwent restoration and conservation as part of the prison complex's conversion into a museum.

Commemorations of victims of repression are held at the wall, including events marking the National Day of Remembrance of the Cursed Soldiers. The programme on 1 March included laying a wreath at the wall and lighting a candle before a plaque dedicated to the Fourth Main Executive of WiN. The plaque commemorates seven members of that leadership, murdered in Mokotów Prison on 1 March 1951.

Access to this site depends on the current tour route, which changes frequently because construction work at the museum is ongoing.
