À propos du lieu

Ogród Zoologiczny w Lubinie

Lubin Zoo opened in 2014 in a restored town park with a history reaching back to the nineteenth century. Across more than fourteen hectares, greenery plays an important part in the visit: a remnant of riparian woodland survives in the centre. The walk therefore leads among both aviaries and enclosures and the trees of the old park.

Birds form the largest part of the animal collection. Pheasants with many different feather shapes and colours feature alongside owls, birds of prey, cranes and storks. The Farm Animals Trail also presents native Polish breeds, including the Carpathian goat, Wrzosówka sheep and Polish Whiteback cattle. Their husbandry tells a story of preserving the diversity of animals associated with people.

The Fauna of Poland Trail, opened in 2023, includes the bison enclosure. The vivarium in the zoo headquarters lobby offers a different scale of observation: its terrariums house green tree pythons, poison frogs and millipedes, among other animals. The park also contains models of extinct animals and a trail of protected monumental trees. Living animals, models of past species and old trees form distinct parts of the same garden.

Pour les enfants

At Lubin Zoo, you walk through an old park. Mature trees grow here, and a patch of riparian woodland survives in the centre. The zoo has been open since 2014. Among the greenery, you can meet animals that differ greatly in size, voice and way of life.

Birds make up a large part of the collection. There are colourful pheasants, owls and birds of prey. In the farm area, you can also meet old Polish breeds such as the Carpathian goat. The bison belongs to the trail devoted to Poland's animals. Each encounter tells a different story: forest life, hunting or animals that people have raised for a long time.

The vivarium, a space with terrariums inside the zoo building, houses smaller animals, including blue poison frogs, a green tree python and millipedes. Elsewhere in the park, figures of extinct animals show creatures from the distant past. These are models, not living residents of the zoo.
