À propos de l’objet

Two projecting corner pavilions frame the front of the Large Palace. These side sections extend beyond the façade and have distinctive roofs. The varied mass of the building, including its usable attic, distinguishes the former residence from the estate's farm buildings. From 1835 to 1945, the estate belonged to the von Küster family. It was purchased by Gustav Ernst von Küster, a diplomat associated with the court of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. During the nineteenth century, alterations adapted the older residence to its new owners' needs.

After the Second World War, a state farm operated on the estate. The Large Palace eventually fell into ruin. Its postwar use and subsequent deterioration belong to the history of the same building that now houses the museum. Restoration began in 1991, initiated by the von Küster family. Friends and supporters of heritage conservation also helped rescue it. Visitors now enter a residence brought back into use, and films shown in the palace cinema explore its restoration.
