À propos de l’objet

The Kitchen Garden continues the tradition of landed estates maintaining their own vegetable plots, orchards and herb beds. In Łomnica, it forms part of the museum and farm estate. Its purpose remains connected with supplying kitchens with plant produce. Vegetables, fruit and aromatic herbs grow here. They include plants less commonly encountered today but once familiar in domestic gardens. The variety of species and cultivars is one of the subjects explored during educational activities.

The harvest supplies the palace restaurants. Vegetables, fruit and herbs are used in seasonal dishes and homemade preserves. The garden therefore retains a productive role: plants seen during a visit also become ingredients in meals. Activities run by the Dominium Łomnica Foundation introduce traditional varieties and flavours, with children doing small gardening tasks. Learning about food is combined with understanding how an estate works. These sessions connect knowledge of plants with practical gardening and form part of the foundation's educational programme.

Pour les enfants

The Kitchen Garden supplies vegetables, fruit and herbs. Gardens like this once belonged to many landed estates. Some of the varieties grown here were more common in gardens around homes in the past.

The produce goes to the palace restaurants, where it is used in seasonal dishes and preserves. During organised activities, children learn about plants and do small gardening tasks. This helps them understand where food ingredients come from.
