Model-building workshop

Sketches, plywood, 3D printing and hand finishing all contribute to miniature houses and landscapes.

A tárgyról

A miniature house begins with a design, and its construction involves sketching and cutting plywood. A large model consists of thousands of parts. Alongside the structure and façade, its makers have to produce windows, install lighting and prepare interior furnishings. Even small features around the building, such as a flowerpot by the entrance, are part of their work.

The workshop also creates the landscape: landforms, trees and rocks. A visit introduces the techniques used to make them, with modern technology working alongside handcraft. 3D printing produces components, while control systems operate the animations. The guide explains how vehicles move and how weather effects are activated on the layouts.

This is a working workshop with people and operating machinery. Visitors remain with the guide on the permitted side of the red line on the floor and do not touch tools or equipment. The process on display covers both making the physical forms and the technology that sets a completed layout in motion.

Gyerekeknek

Before a little house can stand on a layout, model makers draw its design and cut the parts, including pieces of plywood. They need walls, windows, lights and furnishings for the inside. A large building can contain thousands of components. Even a tiny flowerpot by the door takes work.

The same workshop makes trees, rocks and the shape of the land. Modern machines help too, including 3D printers, which produce three-dimensional parts. Other equipment controls movement on the layout. The guide explains what moves the vehicles and how weather effects are switched on.

The model makers really work here. While watching, visitors must stay with the guide, remain behind the red line and leave tools and machines untouched.
