Lesnícke a drevárske múzeum

Lesnícke a drevárske múzeum in Zvolen presents the forest as both a natural habitat and a workplace. A diorama and specimens of animals, plants and fungi accompany the story of forest management. Historical tools document measuring, woodworking and the crafts that transformed raw timber into everyday objects.

Drevo vždy živé displays tools and products associated with carpentry, woodturning and joinery, among other crafts. A cabinet of moulding planes organises workshop equipment by the shapes the tools produced, while cooper's tools illustrate the stages of making a wooden vessel.

A separate strand concerns the Ostrolúcky family and its connections with Ľudovít Štúr. Surviving possessions include Adela's musical instrument, personal keepsakes and books. The museum combines traditions of forestry museum work begun in Bratislava in 1927 with Zvolen's municipal collection, founded in 1942.
