Muzeum Mydła i Historii Brudu

At the Museum of Soap and the History of Dirt, the history of hygiene takes the form of a wooden bathing tub, a historic bathroom, laundry equipment and bars of soap from different countries. Everyday objects accompany an account of how people have kept themselves clean over the centuries.

The visit begins with making your own soap. Participants choose its colour, scent and additives. While their creations set, a guide tells the story of hygiene from antiquity to the present. The finished soap goes home with its maker as a souvenir.

Daria Kieraszewicz and Adam Bujny founded the museum in 2012. Its subject has local roots: Bydgoszcz factories manufactured soap, candles and laundry products. At the 1921 Poznań trade fair, the Bydgoszcz Soap Factory promoted its products from a kiosk decorated with large soap balls.
