Chronological-thematic tour of the museum

The walk begins with Polish postal history, from its royal origins to the present. The next stop turns to transport: two stagecoaches and the equipment of postilions illustrate the work of an institution that also carried passengers.

Next come ways of transmitting messages and sound. “Telegraph and Telephone” places historical telegraph systems alongside successive generations of telephone equipment. The Phonographic Exhibition then introduces radio, television and gramophones.

The last two stops focus on postage stamps. First, Polish issues form a year-by-year sequence beginning in 1860. The international collection broadens the scope to the world. Alongside the subjects depicted, it highlights unusual shapes and materials, from miniature gramophone records to silk and cork.
