Underground print shop display
Printing equipment and materials showing how Fighting Solidarity published outside state censorship.
A tartalom nyelve
Duplicators, printing masters, screen-printing and offset equipment furnish the underground print shop display. This area belongs to the exhibition devoted to Fighting Solidarity, an anti-communist opposition organisation. It presents the technical means of producing publications beyond communist censorship. Newspapers and books feature alongside photographs, stamps and postcards issued by the organisation.
The print shop forms part of a multimedia exhibition occupying eighteen former prison cells. It opened on 22 May 2021. The wider account of the organisation's activity also covers demonstrations and broadcasts by an illegal radio station transmitting banned information. The exhibition extends to Fighting Solidarity's activities beyond Poland. Alongside its publications are documents and personal belongings of its members, including the passport of the organisation's leader, Kornel Morawiecki, cancelled by the authorities of the Polish People's Republic.
