Owners of the tower
After the dukes came the Redern and Schaffgotsch families. The building's uses changed too.

After Henry I, the tower passed to his nephew, Bolko II the Small, Duke of Świdnica. Inheritance kept the residence within the founder's family, but not permanently. Following Bolko's death, his widow, Duchess Agnes, sold it to the courtier Jenchin von Redern.
The Redern family held the tower until the mid-15th century. It changed owners several times over the following centuries before passing to the Schaffgotsch family in the 18th century. They owned it until 1945. This was not, then, a home occupied by the same family continuously since the Middle Ages.
The interiors also changed use: the tower became a granary and some of its former room divisions disappeared. The residence with its knightly decoration now served agricultural purposes. Later coatings concealed the paintings, which survived beneath them until their rediscovery. Today's interior contains both remnants of the ducal home and traces of the uses that followed.
