Ten ways to live in water
From archerfish and axolotls through sharks, coral reefs and Amazonia to lumpsuckers and wolffish in Cold Seas.

- PartenzaBanded archerfish
The walk begins at the banded archerfish in At the Border of Water and Land on the second floor. A fish hunting above the surface and an axolotl retaining larval features introduce two different ways of using an aquatic habitat. On the first floor, the Australian marbled catshark and epaulette shark turn attention to life on the bottom. The passage into Coral Reef leads to the head-down razorfish and then the regal blue tang.
In Amazonia on the ground floor, the electric eel demonstrates the role of electricity in orientation and hunting. Next comes the anaconda, adapted to shallow water. The final section is Cold Seas on level -1: first the lumpsucker with its suction disc, then the wolffish with its different tooth shapes. The sequence descends through adjoining exhibition zones; follow the signs and staff instructions within each room.

First you will meet a fish that shoots insects down with water: the banded archerfish on the second floor. In the same room lives the axolotl, with its branching gills. Then you will visit two sharks on the first floor: the small marbled catshark and the epaulette shark, which can move on its fins. At the reef, look for the head-down razorfish and the blue tang, the real fish behind Dory.
In Amazonia on the ground floor, you will meet an eel that uses electricity and an anaconda well suited to water. Finally, you will descend to Cold Seas on level -1. The lumpsucker has a suction disc beneath its belly, and the wolffish has two tooth shapes for different jobs. Follow room signs and staff instructions. Each of the ten stops explores a different feature that helps an animal live in its watery home.
