Kopalnia Złota w Złotym Stoku
The Gertruda and Black Adits lead through former gold and arsenic-ore workings. The earliest known document concerning local mining dates from 1273, and the underground passages opened to tourists on 28 May 1996. Today, industrial history is presented alongside reconstructions and legends.
Museum displays contain tools, lamps, maps and metallurgical equipment. The treasury of imitation bars represents historic production, the Alchemist’s Laboratory explores the story of arsenic trioxide, and Gertruda’s hologram recounts the legend of help for lost miners. Signs in the Museum of Warnings, Notices and Appeals preserve the language of former workplaces.
The Black Adit retains marks from hand-cutting rock and chambers left by ore extraction. Further along are the underground waterfall and an orange train ride to the surface. The Museum of Mining and the History of Złoty Stok adds prints, coins, documents and mining families’ keepsakes to the town’s story.
