The Artist’s Workplace and a Set Design
An artist’s work station and a design for “Worek” reveal the physical materials behind animation.
Lingua dei contenuti
The permanent exhibition includes an artist’s drawing work station. Animation cels, sketches, backgrounds, scripts and shooting scripts held by the museum offer an insight into the work behind animated films.
A particular example of designing a film’s setting is a set design for “Worek” (The Sack) in the Rzeszów collection. The museum featured it as its object of the month in August 2026. Tadeusz Wilkosz was both director and set designer on this film. These roles brought together the telling of the story and the design of the world in which it unfolds. “Worek” was produced by the Se-Ma-For studio in Łódź in 1967.
The design uses a mixed technique involving paint, fabric and paper. This surviving work shows how preparing a setting could combine painting with physical materials before the image became part of the finished film.
