Church from Matczyn
A larch-wood church founded around 1686 by Karol Tarło.
Lingua dei contenuti
Karol Tarło, voivode of Lublin and Deputy Chancellor of the Crown, founded the church from Matczyn around 1686. It was built from larch logs, with exterior boarding added later. The three-part plan consists of a porch, a square nave and a narrower sanctuary with a sacristy. Its shingled roofs differ in shape: the nave has a gable roof with a small bell turret, while the sanctuary has a three-sided roof.
The furnishings combine Baroque, late Baroque and neo-Baroque elements accumulated from the mid-eighteenth to the mid-twentieth century. Restored objects from Matczyn stand alongside replicas. These include the main altar and baptismal font, whose originals the parishioners retained in their new church.
The church belongs to the museum's Roman Catholic parish complex, together with the rectory from Żeszczynka, bell tower from Motycz, granary from Wrzelowiec and cemetery lapidarium. The complex forms part of the Town exhibition.
