Farmstead from Brzeziny
An eighteenth-century cottage with an interior depicting the Gruz family household in 1881.
Lingua dei contenuti
The cottage from Brzeziny was built in 1789, but its interior depicts a later moment: 1881. At that time, two generations of Jakub and Agnieszka Gruz's family lived here. The display portrays an earlier period of rural life than the farmstead exhibitions set between the world wars.
Historic images of peasant interiors provided models for the simple furniture. Two beds, a table, a bench beneath the dish shelf and another bench used for meals and household work were made in this way. These reconstructions are combined with old objects from other parts of the Lublin region. The furnishings therefore do not form an intact set inherited from a single family.
Religious decoration is sparse: a small crucifix stands on the table, while a cross and just a few sacred pictures hang on the wall.
