Gatehouse
Lions, a coat of arms and a decorated façade at the entrance to a Renaissance residence.

Two heraldic lions flank the entrance to the gatehouse, whose façade carries decoration known as sgraffito. The gateway has a semicircular arch, with the Zedlitz coat of arms and the Latin motto “Fortiter et fideliter”, meaning “Bravely and faithfully”, above it. The building dates from the von Logau family's 16th-century expansion; the coat of arms recalls later owners. The lions form part of the decoration around the gateway, while the arms occupy a cartouche above the entablature.
The entrance building combined a passage with servants' rooms and apartments, rather than serving only to protect the gate. The date 1570 appears in the decoration above the entrance to the upper floor. The original façade design was cut into a single layer of lime plaster and then painted, rather than being formed from two differently coloured layers.
The Wrocław painter and architect Emil Nöllner restored the decoration in the early 20th century. His work included reconstructing damaged motifs; the façade underwent further conservation in 2015. Its present appearance combines a 16th-century design, emblems of later owners and restoration work, rather than preserving one unchanged moment in the castle's history.
