ZOO Borysew
In August 2008, Andrzej Pabich opened a zoo in Borysew near Poddębice. It initially covered 15 hectares and displayed 30 species of wild animals. White Bengal tigers arrived in 2009, and in later years the collection expanded to include more predators, hoofed animals, birds and primates. In March 2011 the zoo received permission to operate from Poland's General Director for Environmental Protection.
Today's Borysew combines big-cat enclosures with aquatic habitats, aviaries and a heated Exotarium. White tigers and lions are a recognisable part of the collection, alongside grey seals, tapirs, capybaras and gibbons. These animals demonstrate different ways of moving, finding food and living in groups. In 2023 the zoo added a tiger pool with a transparent barrier and a heated bird house associated with the Exotarium.
The zoo also runs educational activities under the name Akademia Zoo Borysew. A walk between enclosures takes in large mammals, birds and reptiles. The seal introduces life between water and land, the oryx leads into species conservation, and the gibbon carries the theme high into the canopy of Asian forests.

At ZOO Borysew you can meet animals that swim, hop or travel high above the ground on their arms. The zoo opened in 2008, founded by Andrzej Pabich. At first it housed 30 species of wild animals. White Bengal tigers arrived a year later.
Today, big cats are only part of Borysew's animal world. A grey seal hunts underwater, a capybara makes good use of rivers and lakes, and a gibbon travels among branches. There are parrots, antelopes and reptiles too. A tiger or lion's pale colour does not mean a new species. At their enclosures you can learn what causes this colouring.
In 2023, a pool with a thick transparent barrier was built for the tigers. The zoo also has a heated bird house and Exotarium, while Akademia Zoo Borysew runs activities about animals. Our ten-stop walk begins with the seal and ends with the gibbon. Along the way, the animals show how many different ways of life fit into one zoo.
