Christmas ornament workshop and sample room
Handcrafting stages and a collection of decorations from the 1930s onwards.
Jazyk obsahu
The exhibition combines a recreated workshop and a Christmas ornament sample room. Its first section concerns glass beads and the production of blown decorations. A bead-maker’s corner introduces the craftsperson’s working environment before the display moves on to the successive stages of making ornaments. The full production sequence is presented: blowing, dipping, decorating, attaching hangers and packing into boxes. The workstations explain how many steps separate shaping the glass from preparing a finished decoration for dispatch.
The second section is arranged as a sample room. It presents a selection of regional ornaments from the 1930s to the present, in different shapes, sizes and decorative styles. New collections begin with designs and colours for the following year. Production takes place in summer and autumn and depends on the skills of glassblowers and painters. The museum installation presents these tasks as part of the local craft tradition.
Pre deti
Before a glass ornament reaches a Christmas tree, it passes through several stages of handcrafting. The exhibition shows glassblowing, dipping, decorating, attaching a hanger and packing. The bead-maker’s corner resembles a small workshop making glass beads. It is a museum installation illustrating a craftsperson’s work.
The second section is a sample room, where finished designs can be compared. It displays ornaments made in the region from the 1930s to today, with different shapes and decorations. New collections are designed in advance for the following year. Ornaments are produced in summer and autumn, and their appearance depends on the work of glassblowers and painters.
