Archaeological Exhibition
Two rooms on the history of settlement in the Prosna basin: from Final Palaeolithic flints to medieval coin hoards and the tomb of Mieszko III the Old.
Jazyk obsahu
The archaeological exhibition in the main building tells the story of the people who lived in the Prosna basin and in south-eastern Greater Poland before medieval Kalisz came into being. It occupies two rooms arranged chronologically.
The first leads from the Final Palaeolithic through the Neolithic and the Bronze Age to the Roman period: flints, reconstructed graves with grave goods, bronze jewellery and Przeworsk culture weapons. The second room covers the early and late Middle Ages, and at its heart are coin hoards found around Kalisz, an animation about the collegiate church at Zawodzie and objects from excavations in the Kalisz market square.
